Fairview Middle School Principal Dr. Brian Bass has been named Principal of Middle College High for the 2012-13 school year. Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney made the announcement today. Bass replaces Principal Harold Ford who announced his retirement earlier this month.

“Brian has a passion for helping each individual student succeed in the classroom, and he has a special ability to create a sense of community among his students, their families and staff members,” said Looney. “He is a caring administrator who will serve the students and families of Middle College well.”

Bass began his career in Williamson County Schools in 1996 as a fifth grade teacher at Oak View Elementary. He then became an assistant principal in 1999 at Fairview Middle and was named principal there in 2001.

“I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to build on the foundation and traditions of Middle College High School and continuing the mission of providing a unique, caring, guidance-based environment that embraces the individual interests and needs of our students,” said Bass. “I will treasure my experiences, relationships and memories from my 13 years in Fairview and want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the students, staff and community for all their support.  Looking forward, I am excited about establishing new relationships with the MCHS students, faculty, and parents based on trust and open communication.”

Bass has his Bachelor’s in Psychology and Education from James Madison University and his Master’s in Administration and Supervision from Middle Tennessee State University. He recently received his Doctorate in Leadership and Professional Practice from Trevecca Nazarene University.

Bass will begin his new role July 1.
